Hello everybody!

This is our message to you all and we are very pleased to join this valuable project. Now let us introduce ourselves.

We are teachers and students from St.-Canisius. This secondary school has two buildings, one in Almelo and one in Tubbergen, both are places in the east of the Netherlands. During this project you will be dealing with students and teachers from Almelo, a very beautiful city.

 

Our school counts about 1900 pupils and has more than 200 staff members. It offers almost all the usable levels (VMBO, Havo and Vwo) in the Netherlands, including bilingual education in the lower grades and Fastlane English in the upper grades. We think it is important for the learners to become global citizens. Therefore we also try to organise international projects, like exchanges, excursions or emailprojects.

 

On this project students from two 4Vwo-classes will participating under supervision of their English teachers Belinda Wagimin-Roelofsen, Marjan Verver and co-ordinator Maurits Kamman, a history teacher. These classes are involved in a special programme (Fastlane English (FLE)) where they will be prepared for two Cambridge Exams, CAE and CPE. This project is great opportunity for them to improve their English and expand their knowledge about environmental issues.

Hi there!

 

My name is Daniëlle ter Braake. I’m 15 years old and I live in Almelo. Almelo is a small town on the east side of the Netherlands.                                                                          

 

I’ve got one little sister, Juliët. She is 13 years old. My parents are André and Anneke. They are 45 and 42 years old. We have also got pets. We have two dogs, a rabbit and a bird. The two dogs are named Arie and Brutus. The rabbit’s name is Mien and the bird’s name is Ko. I got Mien as a birthday present. She is very cuddly. Ko is very funny to watch. He’s very clumsy. They are all really sweet.

                                                                                                         

 

I go to school in Almelo. The school is called S.G. St. Canisius. My favourite subjects are math and Spanish. All my friends go to the same school, so every break is fun.
My hobbies are playing soccer, computing, listening to music, watching films and hanging out with friends. I’ve been playing soccer since I was 7. I used to play every week. Now I can’t play anymore due to an ankle injury. Computing is also a hobby of mine. I like playing games, listening to music and watching videos on youtube. My favourite computer game is Rollercoaster tycoon 2. I love the old fashioned graphics. I love listening to music. I like all sorts of music. My favourite song is Gold by Spandau Ballet. When I am computing, I mostly am surfing the web. I like websites like twitter and youtube. I love watching videos on youtube. I always watch my favourite TV show on youtube. Perhaps you know it, The Nanny. My favourite character is the butler, Niles. He always knows the right thing to say. I also like to watch films. My favourite film is the Pink Panther. I cried tears of joy when I first saw that film. My friends are awesome. I really can laugh with them. They are always supportive and kind. That’s also the reason why I love to hang out with them. A few weeks ago there was a carnival in Almelo. I went there with a couple of friends and it was great fun.

Hello,

My name is Ilse Lammerink and I’m 16 years old. I live in Hezingen which is a very small village in the east of the Netherlands, near the border with Germany. I live on the countryside with my parents and my younger brother and sister. My brother’s name is Rick and he’s 15 years old and my sisters’ name is Marlin and she’s 12 years old. My grandparents are living in the other part of the house. We don’t have many pets. Just one dog called Rossy and a goldfish.

 

In my free time I like to go shopping or going out with friends. I also like to watch television, playing on the computer and playing the trumpet. On Monday evening, I have to play with the orchestra and on Tuesday afternoon I have individual lessons. But I also practise at home.

Hello I'm Iris Molendijk. I'm 16 years old and I live in Tubbergen (The Netherlands), which is a small village near the German Border. I live in a detached house with my mum, dad and 1 sister. She’s called Lisa and she’s 13 years old. She's like a friend of mine instead of a little sister.

 

We live in the countryside near; Tubbergen. Tubbergen is about 2 km away form our home. I go to school in Almelo, so I’ve to cycle about 10 km everyday. In our country it’s really normal to cycle to school. Our country is also really flat, therefore it's not difficult to cycle. In our surrounding you can find lots farms with cows, pigs

or chicken. There’s also a lot of nature.

 

We also have a few pets; we have 2 rabbits, a dog and a horse. The rabbits don’t have names, our dog is called; Bas and our horse is called; Kai. Every Monday and Friday I go ice skating. I really love ice skating. In the summer we go skating, cycling and running, I also like to go swimming.

 

In the weekends I love to do something with my friends. For example going out to the disco, which is allowed over here when you are 16. On Saturdays or Sundays I have to work. I work in a small restaurant, where I do the dishes. I don't like my job therefore I want to find something else, for example working in a shop.

 

I also love listening to music, drawing and playing on the computer. I often help my mum with the dinner. Or make the dinner myself.

 

 

Sophie Nijhuis

Hello my name is Sophie Nijhuis. I’m 15 years old and my birthday is on the 19th of May. I live in Nutter together with my parents and my little brother and sister. My brother’s name is Diederik and he’s 12 years old and my sister’s name is Karlijn and she’s 10 years old. Nutter is a hamlet and it’s located in the east of the Netherland, approximately 5 kilometers near the German border. We have a dog and her name is Tessa. She’s 8 years old. 

My hobbies are playing volleyball, watching TV, going out with friends, playing on the computer. I play volleyball twice a week, every Monday we have a training and that’s from half past 5 until 7 o’clock and almost every Saturday we have a match.  During the weekends

I watch TV, do my homework, I go out with friends and I work in a restaurant. I work there almost every weekend and it’s in my neighbourhood.

Hello,

 

My name is Anouk Oude Vrielink. I am sixteen years old. On the 13th of January I am having my birthday.

 

My parents are called André and Ria, I’ve got two sisters, Ilse and Wendy, and one brother Mike. My sisters are 19 and 17 years old and my brother is 13 years old. I live in the east of the Netherlands, near the border with Germany in a small village called Vasse. We live on a farm in the countryside. At the farm we have cows, furthermore we have some cats, rabbits and a pony.

 

In my free time I like to go shopping or play volleyball. I also like watching television and playing and chatting on the computer. For volleyball, I train twice a week, at Tuesday and Thursday. Almost every weekend, at Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, we play a match. I also like to do things together with my friends or going out. I have a job as well, I work in a restaurant. I work there almost every weekend.

Hi,

I am Eline Steggink. I’m a 15-year-old girl from the Netherlands. I come from Reutum, that’s a small village in the east of the Netherlands. I’m quite tall, about 1,85 metre and I’ve got long blond hair. I’ve got one brother, called Machiel. He’s 19. In my free time (which is not as long as before) I like to dance, play volleyball and play the piano. I practice playing volleyball twice a week and we have a match on Saturday. I try to dance every evening, but often I don’t have enough time, as I have to make my homework. Besides that, I like to hang out with my friends. I always feel very pleased when they’re around. I’m now in the 4th class of the st. Canisius. I used to be in a bilingual class for the first 3 school years. I passed these years and received a certificate. Now I follow FLE (Fast Lane English) and hope to pass my CAE exams in December next year.

Hello!

My name is Kevin Alberts and I am 17 years old. I’m from Bruinehaar, which is a small village in the eastern part of the Netherlands.
I have one younger sister, she is 13 years old. My mother and father are divorced, I live with my father in Bruinehaar and my sister lives with my mother in Langeveen.

My hobbies are making music, surfing the net and playing games. I also like anime, which are Japanese cartoons aimed at older teenagers and adults. I also play the drums in the local brass band and in a small coverband with 2 of my friends.

I go to school in Almelo, which is about 15km from my house. I go to the St. Canisius College, I follow the pre-university level (which is called VWO) and I’m in my 4th year. The entire VWO is 6 years long. After I graduate I would like to study Computer Science at the university of Twente in Enschede.

Well, that’s about all there is to me, I hope we’ll have lots of fun!

My name is Susan. Since the 16th of January I’m 16 years old. I live on a farm in a very small village in the East of the Netherlands.

I live here together with my brother and sister, who are both younger than me, and my parents.

Hello everyone,

 My name is Martine Drenth. I’m seventeen years old and I live in Vriezenveen. Vriezenveen is a small village in the east of Holland.

 I have one sister. She is one year older then I am. My parents are Bernadette, 53 years old, and Herman, 51 years old. We have one dog. Her name is Pebbles and she is three years old.

 I go to school in Almelo. The school I go to is called St. Canisius. I usually go by bike, but sometimes my mother brings me with the car. From my house to school is about 10 kilometer and if I go by bike it takes my approximately 45 minutes.

My favourite subject is Spanish. My least favourite is gym, because I’m not sportive at all.

 In my free time I like to draw, read, listen to music or watch movies. My favourite movie at the moment is ‘Life as we know it’, but it changes from time to time. I also like to hang out with my friends. They mean a lot to me. Most of my friends go to the same school as I do, which makes it a lot more fun to actually go to school.

Hello,

 

My name is Chiel Paus, I am 16 years old and I live in Tubbergen, a small town in the neighbourhood of Almelo and close to the German border.

My sport is waterpolo. I also like to practise that in my spare time. Next to swimming, I also enjoy playing on my guitar and of course, like almost all teenagers, I like to play on the computer.

I have a mother and father, a brother and a sister and a small dog called Yugi.

I am Tom Rekers, I am fifteen years old and I live in Geesteren, that’s in the east of the Netherlands, that’s close to Almelo.

 

I have one little brother called Stan and he’s twelve years old. And of course I have a father and a mother, they are both 52 years old.

 

My hobby’s are playing football, playing video games and playing computer games. I play football in the team Stevo B1.

 

My school is St. Canisius in Almelo, it is  about 25 minutes to school.

My name is Yvar Veltmaat, I’m fifteen years old and I’m from The Netherlands. I live in Geesteren, a small village in the East of Holland.

 

I have a brother and a little sister. My brother’s name is Riemer and he’s seventeen years old. My sister’s name is Meike and she is twelve years old. I have a mom and a dad and a little dog.

 

My hobbies are making Music and watching TV. I take Music lessons at school. I play percussion, which is playing the drums. And I am a member of a Music club. At most traditional days I have to play throughout the streets with my club.

 

I go to St.Canisius College. I follow the pre-university level (VWO in Holland). Now I’m in my fourth year of VWO, but I still have 2 years to go. After I graduate (I hope so at least) I want to do something in music. But I’m also thinking of teaching or joining the army.
